An attractive place to work and live - Hong Kong!

Hong Kong became a special administrative region of China in July 1997 after being under British sovereignty for more than 150 years, in which it acquired many British influences. Being the Asia's prime economic centre, Hong Kong is a fast-paced, cosmopolitan and exciting city of over 6 million people. Hong Kong offers the best of the traditional and modern worlds; a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures found nowhere else.

Culture and Recreation
The variety of choice, whether for culture, recreation or pure pleasure, is astounding. As a gateway where East meets West, Hong Kong has a unique blend of activities available from each culture. Whether you prefer European opera or canto-pop, Oriental ceramics or art from the fringe, you will find something to suit you. And for a newcomer, witnessing one of the many Chinese festivals is always a memorable event.

If your interests lie in the great outdoors, Hong Kong will not disappoint you. Hidden behind the facade of steel and glass towers, over 40 per cent of the territory is actually parkland. Walking trails criss-cross the main island, while the New Territories and outlying islands are heavens for the nature-lover. There are also myriad activities for the younger set. Hong Kong boasts great museums, extracurricular activities and sports opportunities for children and teens.

Working and Language
While local people make up the majority of staff in local companies, financial, investment, I.T. companies, and major regional headquarters are hire comparatively more expatriates as consultants and upper-level managers. Around 15,000 overseas workers come to work in Hong Kong every year. The local language is Cantonese, but English is widely used in business world. Most jobs require good communication skills in spoken and written English as a pre-requisite, Mandarin is also becoming increasingly important because of close economic links between Hong Kong and Mainland China.
