STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS TOOLS FOR THE DIGITAL AGE

Smart. Simple. Solid. See how the intelligent PS 300 Ferroscan can integrate concrete scanning

Hilti PS 300 Ferrorscan giving you the full picture for rebar

There have been two great leaps forward in the history of structural analysis tools. The first came back in the 1970s, when the advent of commercial radar (GPR) scanners made non-destructive concrete analysis a realistic option for most jobsites. The second is happening now: a new generation of intelligent detection tools, designed to simplify analysis jobs and help prevent errors both on-site and back in the office.

The PS 300 Ferroscan is at the forefront of this new wave of smart, connected detection devices. An integrated 5" touchscreen gives you a detailed, live view of hidden rebar, helping you to complete a structural survey or analysis in one site visit. Afterwards, data can be transferred to PROFIS Detection software for further analysis or sharing in various formats. Survey or analysis reports can then be generated with one click.

Instant concrete scans with detailed documentation

Watch the video below to see how the PS 300 Ferroscan helped to locate reinforcement in a record-breaking concrete bridge in the Swiss Alps. This ambitious engineering project has resolved large spans, seismic requirements, temperature extremes and dynamic loads – so it is imperative that the structure was built as specified. With an especially large scanning surface and the power to locate rebar up to 200 mm deep, the PS 300 offers a high-productivity solution for scanning concrete in major buildings and civil engineering works.

In this remote location, extra site visits would be especially costly. Live scan results on-screen helped to ensure data integrity and completeness before returning to the office for deeper analysis.

SMART

Precision and accuracy for high-productivity analysis

With a special sensor array, the tool collects five data points in one scan. The sensor surface is – at 15 cm high – especially large, and one person can scan 50 m in one go. In other words, the PS 300 Ferroscan has been engineered to deliver more reliable, large-scale results in the shortest time. As the scanner is powered by a standard Hilti 12V battery, there are no cables to compromise this agility and reach.

  • Rebar location up to 200 mm depth
  • Rebar cover depth measurement up to 120 mm
  • Rebar depth measurement accuracy +/- 1 mm at 50 mm
  • Spacing and cover ratio limitation 1.2:1
  • Maximum scanning speed 0.5 m/s

The full intelligence on-board the PS 300 Ferroscan is visible after you transfer scan data to PROFIS Detection on PC. This software is your toolkit for detailed structural analysis: filter visible details, compare scan data against reference specifications, export charts/statistics, create text/picture annotations and even model locations to drill and core. You get a 3D view of the concrete wall or slab which can be exported for addition to an official engineering report and your CAD/BIM model.

SIMPLE

The fast track to becoming a structural analysis specialist

When we say easy-to-use, we mean it in two specific ways:

  • Real-time feedback – reducing the risk of extra site visits due to incomplete scan data
  • Quick to learn – get straight to the structural analysis, without wasting time using inefficient tools

This means that you can master scanning with the PS 300 Ferroscan in a few minutes. So, no matter if you are an Installer or an Engineer, your expertise is focused where it should be: on results, not data collection. Your Hilti Account Manager and Detection Specialist are on hand to provide all the tips to need to get started.

The what-you-see-is-what-you-get user interface is designed to save you the frustration of ambiguous feedback and fussy menus. Where older devices displayed raw radar imagery which required considerable expertise to interpret, the PS 300 Ferroscan shows rebar layout as intuitive, annotated plans and cross-sections on the same screen. By tapping an object on-screen, you can see a summary of its diameter, cover depth and material. All this information can be saved for expert analysis and producing project reports back in the office.

SOLID

Tough concrete scanners built for real construction sites

“Precise” used to mean “fragile". The PS 300 Ferroscan, however, is IP54 rated for robustness. The casing is engineered to keep out dust and moisture – protecting your investment. Rubberized grips and a touchscreen which can be used while wearing gloves help to prevent drops and knocks. In addition, you can call Hilti to calibrate your concrete scanners, providing assurance that your detection system can continue to deliver trustworthy results.
