RE 100 for Grade 8.8 Bolt and Rebar
- Is RE100 applicable for M39 Grade 8.8 Bolt? Since I cannot find M39 8.8 Bolt in the Catalogue, only up to M30.
- With reference to the Catalogue, RE100 can apply to Rebar up to Dia.40, but in the PROFIS Engineering software, there is only up to Dia.32. So Dia.40 Rebar is applicable or not?
- Is it a must to use PROFIS Engineering software for RE100 Design? Is it correct if I follow clause 9.4.2a (COP for the Structural Use of Steel) to calculate the required bond length?
- For question 3, for calculating the min. bond length, What FOS should I apply? 3.0 or 1.4DL 1.6LL is adequate?

Dear Irving,
Thank you for your enquiry. There are two different ways to apply RE100: Anchor system (steel-to-concrete connection) and Post-installed rebar system (concrete-to-concrete connection). Their applicability with threaded rod and rebar is not the same.
For anchor system, RE100 is applicable with thread rod up to M30 and rebar up to Y8-Y32. For post-installed rebar, RE100 is applicable with rebar up to Y40.
- It is applicable with thread rod up to M30.
- PROFIS Engineering is calculating the anchor system(steel-to-concrete). So it is only up to Y32.
- The necessity of PROFIS Engineering usually depends on the requirement of BD/RSE/AP. But we suggest to apply PROFIS Engineering for anchor checking since it directly helps you to check all the failure modes.
- Again, the FOS should be required by BD/RSE/AP. For BD submission, FOS3 should be applied. If BD submission is not required, you may apply the specified FOS.
Please feel free to contact us if there is further question.
